
About Me
Born in Portugal in 1985 he began his musical studies at the age of eight. He has taken part in various masterclasses and musical with Professors and pianists Jaime Mota, Fátima Travanca, Tsiala Kvernadze, Miguel Borges Coelho, Helena Sá e Costa, Vura Margulis and Maria Céu Camposinhos: Jaime Mota, Fátima Travanca, Tsiala Kvernadze, Miguel Borges Coelho, Helena Sá e Costa, Maria do Céu Camposinhos, Luís de Moura Castro, Jura Margulis, Vitaly Margulis, Jörg Demus, Pedro Burmester, Adriano Jordão, Claudio Martínez Mehner, Christopher Elton and Rixiang Huang.
He completed the 8th grade of the conservatoire with the highest mark, in the class of Prof. Maria do Céu Camposinhos, at the Centre for Musical Culture, Caldas da Saúde. In 2010 he completed his piano degree at ESMAE (Escola Superior de Música e das Artes do Espetáculo) in Porto in the class of Prof Sofia Lourenço. Later he studied with Prof Luís Pipa and Prof Sofia Lourenço as part of her master's degree in teaching. He completed his master’s degree in music teaching at ESMAE with high marks and is currently taking his PhD in Music at the University of Aveiro, where he is a researcher at INET-md. As part of his PhD, he has been studying with Prof Fausto Neves and is currently developing his research project on works by J.S. Bach and the 24 Preludes for piano by Fernando Lopes-Graça. As a researcher, he took part in the Research Summit 2023, and was also selected to present at the XII ENIM, that took place at the Real Edifício de Mafra in October 2023.
He has made several public appearances with solo recitals in numerous locations around the country such as: Aveiro, Paço dos Duques in Guimarães, Póvoa de Varzim, Vila do Conde, Trofa, Santo Tirso, Fafe, Óbidos, the city's Museum - Extension of Romanticism Porto and most recently at the Casa das Artes in Famalicão and the Gil Vivente Theatre, in a tribute concert to the composer Luiz Costa. He has also recently begun his international career, having already played in Germany and Mexico, and has concerts scheduled for Spain, Mexico and Brazil.
In 2005, together with the tenor Alberto Costa, he gave the premiere of the work "Cecília Lieder" by the young composer Nuno Jacinto in two concerts, the first at ESMAE in the Helena Sá e Costa Theatre, and the second at the São Luiz Theatre in Lisbon, a concert broadcast by Antena Dois. In January 2011, he performed solo in a recital dedicated to LISZT and CHOPIN, in the noble hall of the Nogueira da Silva Museum, thus opening the museum's concert cycle. He opened the Ateneu Comercial do Porto concert series with a solo recital in April 2011. In May 2011, he gave a recital at the Pavilhão Centro de Portugal in Coimbra. In February 2012, for the second year running, he gave another recital at the Nogueira da Silva Museum to a packed audience.
In April 2012 she made her debut as a soloist with the Artave Orchestra, conducted by Ernst Schelle, performing Franz Liszt's "Totentanz". In 2015 she took part in a solo recital in the EUROCLASSICAL programme, performed and recorded at the Helena Sá e Costa Theatre. He has recently collaborated with the Banda Musical da Póvoa de Varzim.
During his PhD first year he gave several performances at the University of Aveiro as part of her doctorate and, in November 2022, a solo recital as part of the 2nd season of the Dionísio Pinheiro and Alice Cardoso Pinheiro Foundation's Lua Nova Cycles. In April 2023 he gave the concert "Tons de primavera" in her hometown Trofa and in April 2023 gave a solo recital at the Nogueira da Silva Museum in Braga, again to sold-out crowds.
He was admitted to the prestigious Musikhochschule Münster for the 2023/2024 academic year, for the Zertifikatsstudienjahr, specialising in piano, where he had the opportunity to study with the pianist and pedagogue Peter von Wienhardt, having completed his studies with high marks.
In July, he took part in the 3rd edition of the Piano Concerto Festival 2023, in Faro, where he was selected to play solo with the Algarve Orchestra, under the guidance of Italian conductor Maurizio Colasanti. He was also awarded 2nd Prize at the CALABRIA INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION 2023. He took part in the first edition of the International Piano and Orchestra Festival in Guadalajara, Mexico, for which he received a scholarship from the Dionisio Pinheiro and Alice Cardoso Pinheiro Foundation, with the support of the GDA Foundation. At the same Festival, he was one of the three finalists selected and played Beethoven's Concerto No. 5, commonly known as the “Emperor”, at the Degollado Theatre.
